Lime Out - A Floating Taco Shack.

Add this to your travel list – Lime Out a floating taco shack in the Caribbean.

Ever thought of travelling to Central America? Love tacos? Love a good, authentic margarita? Have you ever dreamt of floating in the Caribbean with a taco in hand?

Well, look no further than ‘Lime Out’ a floating taco shack off the coast of the Virgin Island ‘St John’ in the Caribbean sea. This floating restaurant that opened in March of 2019 in Hansen Bay is far from the shore and only accessible via a short boat ride out.

The floating taco shack was created by childhood best friends Richard Baranowski, Dane Tarr, and Dylan Buchalter. Baranowski who is one of the partnered owners and also happens to ironically own a restaurant on the mainland known as ‘Lime Inn’ created the life-changing menu incorporating traditional Caribbean flavours into not only their tacos but craft cocktails.

To access Lime Out you’ll either have to rent a boat, jet ski or paddle out on a kayak or paddleboard (keep in mind you’ll need a designated boat driver to get back to shore).

What about the eats and drinks

The restaurant is no stranger to hosting a good lunchtime shindig with their extensive drinks menu.

House-made cocktails ranging from ‘Hunter’s Passion’ a mango rum, pineapple juice passion fruit purée and cream of coconut mix to ‘The Flip’s Grapefruit Margarita’ which includes 100% blue agave tequila, fresh grapefruit, fresh lime and lemongrass syrup.

They also have ‘Tamarind Bomb’ shots and draft beers from St John Brewers. Whichever you choose you won’t be disappointed.

As for tacos they range in price from $8 to $12 and are whipped up by the amazing Lime Out chef Amaro Rivera.

From the Short Rib Taco made up of slow-braised short rib, feta, radishes, cherry tomatoes and local organic microgreens to the Fresh Tuna Taco which consists of chilli garlic marinated blackened tuna, pico de gallo, guacamole and chipotle slaw.

Lime Out also caters for vegans with their Vegan Taco consisting of paprika smoked black beans, quinoa, pickled onions, guacamole, jalapeños, sliced radishes and local organic microgreens. When you’ve picked which tacos will cure your craving your food will be placed onto a large floating platter board which you can either take to your floating booth or eat on the ‘sea bar’ on the edge of the restaurant.
