The world’s first crowdfunded island is looking for owners and it could be you.

You will now be able to focus your lotto dreams on something different with a crowdfunded tropical island now looking for investors. Located off the coast of Belize, you will find the uninhabited, 1.2-acre island or in simpler terms approximately the size of a five minutes to walk from end to end.

Lined with mangroves and surrounded by coral reefs – so far 80 investors have entered into the dream of owning a slice of the paradise island Coffee Caye through the crowdfunding campaign named Let’s Buy an Island.

If you were thinking this is just a pop-up idea and not to be taken seriously you would be wrong.

The plan for this island has been over a decade in the making – with investors not only buying into the island itself but also into the world’s newest micronation.

How many investors can join the campaign and what is the cost?

Investor numbers are quite limited with only 150 positions, and for $3,250, you can purchase a share in Coffee Caye crowdfunded island with a vote in the Principality of Islandia’s democracy, and a say in the future of the island.

Gareth Johnson, cofounder and CEO of Let’s Buy an Island, describes the new micronation as an “experiment with democracy itself.”
