You’ll find no beds in Sydney’s new Hijinx Hotel, only a whole load of fun.

Disguised as an eccentric New York Hotel on the outside, inside visitors will find a wonderland of quick-play challenge rooms much in the style of a Willy Wonka-esque emporium of fun. Basically, it’s like an escape room minus the brain-scratching stress.

The world-first challenge room hotel comes from Funlab, who are the brains behind iconic hits like Holey Moley, Strike Bowling and Archie Brothers. Yeah, these guys know how to bring a good time.

Ten (soon to be fifteen) rooms of fun

As guests enter the faux hotel lobby they’ll be whisked into ten (soon to be fifteen in the coming weeks) immersive and interactive challenge rooms, taking inspiration from well-loved 80s or 90s cult classic movies and board games. Teams from two to six players will have 30 minutes to work their way through sets of five rooms and earn as many points as possible.

The imaginative spaces have all the throwback vibes with a “Draw Me Like One of Your French Girls” room modelled on the Titanic movie, a “Shape’n Up” is inspired by Tetris, classics like The Floor is Lava, Pinball and Twister or Hijinx Hotel specials like Cereal Ball Room, or Candy Ball Pool. Yes – your childish dreams have all come true because there is a giant ball pit to dive into.

Wait…there’s more!

Although the surroundings may be childish, kidults can still indulge in the benefits of adulthood and park up at one of the three cocktail bars. They’ve got all the classics plus some Hijinx Hotel specialities, with a unicorn twist. Sip on Margaritas made with Casamigos tequila, or the Bubble and Pop – a combo of tequila, white chocolate, passionfruit, lemon, and egg white topped with a scented bubble.

If all that’s not enough to make your head spin you’ll also find a mega Holey Moley experience inside with 27 themed holes combining for the biggest putt-putt venue they’ve seen to date.
