Love NSW: Regional Travel To Begin June 1 So Whip Out The Skis & Flanno

nsw to reopen tourism

Regional travel around NSW is permitted from June 1 so put in that GPS location far, far away stat!

Let’s rejoice for our East Coast friends in New South Wales as it has been announced today that from June 1, regional travel is permitted throughout the state.

The New South Wales Government has lifted the ban on travelling within the state, giving many a reason to rejoice from mountain tops to coastal shores far away from their unexpected staycation at home for the past few months. The good news comes hot off the heels some restrictions easing last Friday, including permitting up to 10 people dining at restaurants and bars.

It also comes as a massive relief for struggling tourism vendors who were hard hit both by the bushfires and the COVID-19 pandemic which saw the state in lockdown.

Both ski playgrounds Perisher and Thredbo are reportedly keen to take advantage of the relaxed restrictions, potentially opening for avid lovers of the snow in mid-June and will encourage social distancing measures.

This is the first bit of freedom since holiday trips within the state were banned due to COVID-19 restrictions in place.

Premier Gladys Berejiklian is opening NSW borders too, saying “We intend to keep our borders open. We think that’s best for New South Wales but also best for Australia.”

More than ever, regional tourism needs to be supported, so let’s start in our own backyard.
