India is top of the pops as the most Instagrammed destination in the world to kick off 2020 beating perennial travel hotspots London and France.

How does it work?

A report analysing Instagram data from 1 January 2019 to Jan 31 2020, found 2020’s hottest travel destinations on Instagram.

Using the topic cloud, they were able to sift through hundreds of millions of posts to find the most shared locations on Instagram when hashtag #travel and or #travelinfluencer were used.

But where is most popular in India?

When the data was broken down locally they were also able to determine the hotspots within India. Mumbai was the most popular travel destination in India, outplacing the well known Delhi.

Also of note is our very own Australia placing 5th on the list sandwiched between Thailand 4th and Germany 6th.
