If anyone is going to know the latest trends it will be Google.

The all knowing, all powerful Google machine has provided a look into the future of 2020 and listed the top 10 trending travel destinations for 2020.

How does it work?

Well, only Google really knows how Google works, but outside of that main factor the top 10 has been calculated through research, which compares the number of hotel searches with travel dates in 2020 to a similar number of searches from 2018 for 2019 travel dates.

The 10 places that saw the greatest uptick in interest were then considered the top travel destinations for 2020 as travellers consider a new place to visit.

While there were fan favourites Tokyo, Bangkok and Dubai continue to be tourism beacons, it was interesting to see Da Nang and Sao Paula as the top trending destinations for 2020.

Just like Da Nang is changing and trending in Vietnam, it seems Google and travellers the world-wide are also taking note.

There is, of course, the Golden Bridge which has become a tourism beacon for Vietnam, not to mention Da Nang also has a Dragon Bridge that breathes fire at night.

While Brazil can often catch a bad wrap as a tourist destination due to safety concerns at times, that hasn’t stopped Sao Paulo for trending. A known foodie heaven and a paradise for those keen to kick back their heels with the underground bars and the 24/7 clubbing scene.

More specifically and closer to home and to be more specific – So Where Next’s home, Perth has come through with the goods outperforming the more well-known Australian cities of Sydney and Melbourne to be the #1 trending place in Australia and #10 on Google trending travel destinations.
