Ace Valentine's Day With An Airbnb Stay In The 'Romeo and Juliet' House

Are you feeling lucky in love?

Airbnb has announced that one lucky, loved-up couple will receive the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to stay at the historic home of Shakespeare’s Juliet in Verona, Italy. For the first time since the 1930s, the house will become a home and welcome it’s first overnight guests.

OK, so the entirely fictional character of Juliet never actually lived in this house. But for generations, the gorgeous 13th century Casa di Giulietta has been fabled to be the home of Shakespeare’s most famed female character. Today, the townhouse is a celebrated landmark and museum in the heart of Verona in Italy’s north. People flock to the site to see the balcony that resembles the place that the famed line “Romeo, Romeo, wherefore art thou Romeo?” was uttered.

Now, thanks to Airbnb and the Verona Municipality, one competition winner and their partner will be able to celebrate the lovely landmark in a way nobody else has before. The lucky couple will get a glimpse inside the lives of Romeo and Juliet with unprecedented access to the historic building on Valentine’s Day.

What’s Involved?

The experience doesn’t stop at an exclusive overnighter in Juliet’s home. Both the winner and their partner will also get:

A Romeo and Juliet-inspired tour of Verona

The opportunity to read and reply to some of Juliet’s most recent love letters (the house gets thousands of them a year)

Exclusive access to Michelin star chef, Giancarlo Perbellini, while he prepares the romantic feast

A candlelit dinner by chef Perbellini in the house’s dining room

A night in Juliet’s bedroom that has transformed into a romantic, medieval-themed boudoir for the evening, complete with the original bed from the 1960 ‘Romeo and Juliet’ movie

How to Enter:

“Go wisely and slowly. Those who rush stumble and fall.“

Put pen and paper (or open up your laptop) as to be in the running for the stay, you have to get your creative cap on. For a chance to call Juliet’s boudoir home for the night, entrants are required to pen a letter to Juliet, sharing their own love story and explaining why they and their partner would be perfect guests.
